Sunny Seashell Cupcakes

June 26, 2010 by Ami 3 Comments

One element of the Sunny Seashell Download N Go is to have a PARTY on Friday.

I decided we would make some cupcakes and use some seashell candies to decorate the tops. Here is what we did.

First, I had to find some seashell molds. I found a small kitchen specialty shop that let me order them. They were SUPER cheap, but I had to order three. Because of this, I'm hosting a give-a-way. Be sure to check it out!

Once I had the molds and some candy melts, I made the candies. I melted the chips in a make-shift double boiler (a pampered chef glass bowl atop my pan of boiling water). Once the chips were melted, I put the gooey goodness in a plastic bag and cut the end off. Then I poured a little in each mold. I tapped the candy trays a few times on the counter to spread the melted candy in the mold. Worked great!

After I made the candies, it was time for the boys to help. They mixed up a homemade yellow cake. You can use any recipe (or box mix).

Simon helped make butter cream frosting

I frosted the tops and Simon did the decorating. He put three candies on each cupcake then sprinkled the tops with Sugar in the Raw for sand.

That's that! Time to enjoy your seashell party! (We also made some sandwiches with crab cookie cutters and served carrots and grapes to round things out.)
