Winter Wonders

February 21, 2011 by Ami 5 Comments

Winter is snowflakes and hot chocolate around here. The real deal. And my children love it!

To celebrate winter last month, we used Download N Go's Winter Wonders unit study.

We painted with ice cubes.

We created ice sculptures.

We took daily nature walks and found lots of animal tracks (including squirrel, cat, dog, bird, deer, wild turkey, and possum).  We also went to a local nature center and observed birds for a few hours.

We ate snowflake tortillas.

We constructed a notebook.

We learned so much AND had so much FUN!

    Kyla,

We were at the Salamonie (in Andrews) when we found the turkey tracks (AND about 30 wild turkeys!).

    Thanks, Jessy! 🙂

I get the notebooks from http://www.barebooks.com (spiral bound). We really like them!

    Hi!
Just wanted to say thanks for posting some of your stuff on Homeschoolshare!! Thanks for the idea of using blocks for parallel constructions. We’re doing ‘The Salamander Room’ and you’ve made it easier for me and more enjoyable for my kids.

    Blessings,
    Margret
