Letting Go {Simplicity Week 1}

February 26, 2013 by Ami 9 Comments

"The greatest step toward a life of simplicity is to learn to let go."

Mine. It's all mine. We learn this as tots and we start living with our fists tight-closed. Today I'm learning to open my hands in order to let things fly, spurring on toward simple.

I'm learning to let go of . . .

1. Facebook
Not everyone needs to do this, but I gave up my personal account in hopes of a simpler life. I had to do it. And I am so glad I did.

2. What Others Think
Many of my actions are a result of me trying to be the person I think other people think I should be. I'm letting go of that and focusing on who He wants me to be.

3. So Many Options
We are over-the-top in our have-it-my-way culture. I can stand in any aisle at the grocery store and marvel over the endless brands, sizes, and varieties of one simple product like peanut butter or coffee. I'm letting go of so many options and streamlining {closets, pantry, etc.}, in order to live more simply.

What are you letting go?

    So much easier said than done, Mistie! 🙂 But a wonderful freedom comes with letting go of the opinions of others.

    I was wasting so.much.time. there. It was crazy. A real burden has been lifted. 🙂 And I’m much more productive with my time-gift that God has given to me!

    Just found your blog today. What a God-send! I’ve been so overwhelmed by all that’s “out there” for homeschoolers and feeling so unqualified…. so unable…. so lacking! Thank you for your simplistic, ready-made ideas and your willingness to share what’s worked for you. I gave up FB and have no regrets. Thanks for admitting that too! 🙂 I’ll be praying for your ministry here… God bless!
