Geography Fair 2011

January 19, 2012 by Ami 5 Comments

I just {heart} geography fairs! Our co-op, Treasure Seekers, had its third annual fair a few months ago.

Homeschool Cooperative Geography Fair 2011 (Walking by the Way)

My English crew ~ a soccer fan and a king!

Many countries were represented (not all are pictured): Australia, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, England, France, Ethiopia, Vietnam, Ireland, Israel, Switzerland, Ghana, and Madagascar.

Switzerland ~ sample chocolates (all kinds), fondue, listen to a yodler, and watch a power point presentation!

Ghana ~ Adrinkra cloth, plantains, four animal lapbooks (from Homeschool Share ~ yippee!), and Groundnut Soup.

England ~ holiday crackers, a word game ("Can You Speak English in England?"), money, and cucumber sandwiches!

Vietnam ~ puppets, a pop-up book, an amazing notebook, moon cakes, and a salt-dough map

Ethiopia ~ a diorama of a hut, coffee, lots of artifacts, and injera with stew!

France ~ a French cafe' and a sweet little street diorama of Paris

Israel ~ stay all day and absorb the amazing research here, chow down on hummus, too!

Costa Rica ~ a coffee maker, tropical fruit smoothies, and even a map made out of sugar cookie dough!

I don’t know why I didn’t see this before! I LOVE this idea! My kids always do things on their own so the writing is sloppy (to the rest of us), rows of stickers uneven, etc. etc. I can see the parents helped here (or the kids were older:) so I will allow mine to be helped. Makes it looks so nice! Thank you for sharing this! šŸ™‚ ~Laurie

This looks fantastic! I can see the amount of work that went into your fair was amazing! Thanks for sharing!

    Hi there,

I home school my two children in Florida and I came across your site as we are having a geography fair this May. Our country is England and when I googled England and lapbooks it led me to your blog….You have some great ideas!!! I was wondering if you were going to have a chance to upload the templates for the lapbook to homeschool share anytime soon??

    Thanks šŸ™‚

    Anouska

We are a new co-op and will host our first geography fair this next Monday! I will share your website with the rest of our moms. Thanks so much for the great, inspirational photos!
