Johny Appleseed Blessing Copywork

July 15, 2019 by ami Leave a Comment

Do you know the Johnny Appleseed Blessing? I remember singing this prayer every day at summer day camp before we ate lunch:

Oh, the Lord is good to me.

And so I thank the Lord.

For giving me the things I need:

the sun, and the rain, and the apple seed.

The Lord is good to me.

It is a perfect prayer for children to learn. Grab the Johnny Appleseed Blessing Copywork, and use it in your homeschool to promote gratitude.

I imagine that Johnny Appleseed’s blessing is one of the first prayers many learn. And honestly, you can’t go wrong with a prayer of thanksgiving–thanking God for being good and for giving us exactly what we need (including the rain).

What’s Included in the Johnny Appleseed Copywork?

The printable file includes five pages of copywork for your student.

Each page includes one phrase or sentence for your student to copy.

How to Use the Johnny Appleseed Blessing Copywork

This simple prayer of thanks can be used to discuss gratitude and thanksgiving.

Print the pages.

Read through the prayer together and ask your student what Johnny Appleseed was thankful for. What is your student thankful for?

Let your student copy one sentence each day (or one each week).

You could use one page each day in September if you are studying apples or Johnny Appleseed.

You could also use one page each day in November if you are learning about thanksgiving and being grateful.

You may even want to memorize the prayer together.
