I was not able to download the Cricket in a Pocket unit study. Is there a way to send it to me in a pdf?
    THank you, Tonya

    Ami,
Wow you are amazing. Thank you so much for sharing. I watched your My Father’s Dragon video last night and went to sleep dreaming about it. I am so excited to share it with my students.
    Joy

Thanks for your kind words, Joy. 🙂

My Father’s Dragon such a wonderful story, and it is the best lapbook I’ve ever designed. I have big hopes of doing another book sometime this year in a similar fun/creative way. We’ll see! 🙂

Hi! I have a question. I noticed that some of the books your son did in first grade are upper level books. Was he able to read these on his own or did you do these as read alouds? My son will be in first grade next year (but will be kindergarten age) and reads on about a 2nd grade level. He would love My Father’s Dragon, but he isn’t ready to read a chapter book on his own yet…especially on that level. I looked at the work in the lapbook and he is completely ready to do that part. Would you recommend I do it as a read aloud or wait until he can read the book on his own? Thanks for any help with this!

    Hi Brandy,

My first son was/is an amazing reader. Even though he could read that book, I read it to him. Reading aloud is SO important! 🙂 Don’t ever stop reading to him just because he can read on his own. 🙂
You can learn why I feel so passionately about it if you listen to this $3 download (I don’t make a penny off of linking this, btw!): http://www.excellenceinwriting.com/ncc-e
