The next nine or ten blog posts will be about the creative writing class I taught last fall. If you have a writer or if you teach at a co-op, you might be interested. If you aren’t interested, just pretend that I’m on vacation.
The series is now completed, and you can find the links to each week’s lesson below:
Looking forward to it!
Hi, I just wanted to ask for what grade these activities are for? I have a 7yr old & maybe thought about using this. Thanks alot.
HI Carol,
I wrote the lessons for 5th-7th graders, but I think you could use them with a younger student who WANTS to write. 🙂 Ami
I might be using this with my kiddos this year. Thank you for all your hard work!
THANK YOU sooooo much for this wonderful blog!! Im teaching at a co-op for the first time this year and I’m teaching a creative writing class! It has been really hard to nail down exactly what I will teach over the next 10weeks but your blog gave me some GREAT ideas!!! Cant wait to try them!
Thank you so much for the smiles and inspiration you have given to my two reluctant writers!
Week One Day Two – This made us think of your lesson too.

These look very cool. Doable! And I'm not even a writer 🙂 I see in your lessons they are to copy one quote into the copywork section of their notebook. Where do they find these quotes?
I have been teaching this class to our homeschool co-op and the kids have LOVED it! I've had comments from moms about how their kids have been encouraged and excited about their writing. Since I couldn't take the credit, I promised I would send a comment to you. Thank you so much for sharing this and really connecting with this age group. What a blessing to be able to offer it to our students!
Thanks for blessing me with such kind words, Cori!
This is EXCEPTIONAL! Thank you so much for sharing it.
Hi Ami~
I work for a public library and we are providing a montly creative writing class for children this Spring. Your lesson plans and pdf's are just what I was looking for. Could you please contact me about our public library using them in our program? They are perfect!
Hi Theresa,
As long as you are not profitting from using them, they are yours to use! Enjoy! Wish I could be there to help facilitate all those young writers!
